Proper formatting of your journal article is critical to acceptance. Conditional acceptance (i.e., "revise and resubmit"). The suggested revisions are unlikely to be "correct your formatting." Rather, automatic rejection is the consequence of any formatting that is inconsistent with the journal's stated requirements. It has to be perfect; if it's not, no matter how wonderful your science is, you'll be rejected. Every journal will have an "information for authors" page where formatting is explained. Read it carefully and follow it exactly. Format very accordingly.
